Why use wireless communication technology
The current smart card devices in China (IC card consumption machines, attendance machines, access control machines, etc.) have been widely popularized since the mid-1990s and have a history of more than 10 years of large-scale development. During this period, smart cards have undergone multiple upgrades, from contact IC cards to non-contact IC cards, from storage cards to logic encryption cards, CPU cards, and device functions have also undergone multiple upgrades. However, the development of its networking methods has been slow, with over 80% of devices still using RS485\/RS422 networks for networking with PCs; A few devices have started to have built-in TCP\/IP communication modules and use Category 5 cables for networking, but the cost is high and the networking distance is relatively short (100 meters). Some systems use CAN bus, which has a moderate cost, a networking distance of about 1000 meters, and a good communication speed of 19.2-100kbps.
At present, smart card devices that use RS485 network communication have a maximum communication distance of 1200 meters, a communication speed of around 9.6-19.2kbps, a half duplex mode, and a network connection of up to 128 units. Due to the lag in networking methods, communication bottlenecks have arisen for smart card devices, particularly in terms of construction convenience, communication speed, and communication distance, which need to be urgently addressed.
At present, the installation and popularization of smart card devices are greatly limited due to the limitations of communication methods; For example, in some high-density usage areas such as campus classrooms, factory workshops, etc., dense networking lines need to be laid, usually 1-2 cables per classroom. A campus needs to lay hundreds of information points, and the cost of laying lines is high and the construction period is long. Especially in the later stage, the maintenance workload is heavy and the efficiency of finding fault points is low due to line failures.
